Reporting with Data
In Spring 2020, I enrolled in a data reporting class at the University of Texas. The class was my first introduction to working with data. I learned how to clean, analyze, and contextualize data using statistical models and data visualization software — such as Tableau and Workbench. In our final project we used data from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to report on the changing trends of alcohol consumption and violations across the city of Austin.
Intro to Coding for Journalists
In the fall of 2020, I took an intro to coding class, hoping to build upon some of the skills I learned in the spring. In the course we began by learning the basics of HTML, CSS and Javascript until finally building a multi-page, interactive website.
